Identify is launching it's Great White Shark project with a "Tag It" mission. We've made previous visits with research teams in the Galapagos and we're planning on joining them and donating several tags to their upcoming trips. Amber is an avid diver, and you can see some of her photos from previous trips below (coming soon).
THE MISSION
We'll be supplying tags to researchers working in Guadalupe, Socorro, La Paz, and Cocos Islands of Costa Rica. The species they are studying include the great white shark, whale shark, scallop hammerheads, and Galapagos sharks. They will be departing for these trips in September of 2010. Donations will go directly to purchase radio and satellite tags to track the migration and feeding patterns of the species listed above. You can sponsor your own tag for $350 or make a donation of any other amount here.
FACTS
Great white sharks generally do not consider humans prey. Threats to the species include fishing related to finning, tooth and jaw collection, and for aquarium display. The great white is more threatened by the human species than humans are of them.
